UWG FALL UPDATE
QUICK NOTES
- Capitol meetings have been slimmed down to a sub-committee. A representative from all interested parties was present. Representative Fowlke released her 3nd draft. Please note there have been some changes.
- The 4th draft looks like it will be out by the end of the week.
- The water tour with the Legislature went great! – Chris Barkey gives a firsthand report here –>http://utahwaterguardians.org/?p=348
- The water users started meeting as a group again to go over proposed Legislation.
- UWG website had been updated!! It was a much needed face lift.
Current Language Issues
- Portage – BIG issue.
- Right now it’s “man-made” portage only. NOT “natural portage”.
- This will drastically affect kayakers/boaters/floaters/tubers, etc.
- Kayakers/boaters/floaters/tubers your voice is NEEDED!!
- “Ordinary High Water Mark” vs. “Wet Boot”
Fund Raising – what you can do
In order to preserve our rights, a fund has been started
“Access and Use Utah! Fund”-
- We are just over the halfway mark; with your support we have raised $16,000.00 of the $30,000.00 dollars already!! Let keep up the momentum!
- Interesting note: less than 30 separate donations have been made.
- $5, 10, 15, 25 bucks, anything helps!!
- A “DONATE” button has been added.
- Just click the link, follow the simple instructions… it takes less than 5 minutes, it’s easy.
Shops/Guides
- Place donation “jars” at your shop!
- Go here for a PDF file to attach to your container à http://utahwaterguardians.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/ACCESS-and-USE-UTAH_word_0023.pdf
- Please send me a note if you’re willing to participate, and a volunteer will be assigned to you.
Bloggers
